The Uncomfortable Truth: It's My Fault.

if my peoplewho are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Nigeria is crying and it's my fault.
And yours too if you agree that you are
one of 'God's People'
But we can fix this.
Once again, I admit. It is my fault. And Yours too. Yes, the fact that Nigeria has not been healed is our fault, we who call ourselves Christians.

Did I just see you rolling your eyes at me? Salt has come again abi? *smiling*.

But it's true now! Unless you don't agree that, in the above scripture, when God is talking about 'My People', he is referring to all those who call themselves followers of His Son, Jesus Christ. Do you believe you are God's child, called by His name, Yes or No? If you say 'No', then fine. Perhaps, you want to stop reading this blog right now then.

If however you agree that were God speaking the above words today, 12 May 2014, He would be talking to us, the members of the Body of Christ, then you just have to admit then that we are truly responsible for Nigeria's ill-health. See, it hit me like a ton of bricks but it is true. I don't know about you but whenever this scripture is quoted during prayers for Nigeria, it mostly feels like we are praying for all 'those other godless, human-sacrifice giving, bribe-taking, corrupt people' OUT THERE who are busy doing 'wickedness'.

But it is glaring now, from God's words above, that it is NOT the sin of the unconverted, unsaved and un-churched people out there that is our problem in Nigeria. It is OUR sin, we the born again Christians! God's People! God's Church! We are the ones holding back revival and cleansing for our nation. It is US He is asking to humble ourselves and turn away from our wicked ways! Doesn't this give you goosebumps?

If Nigeria is still sick which clearly it is, it is because we Christians have not humbled ourselves nor have we turned away from our wicked ways. Ouch! I went cold in my car on the way home today as Derek Prince shared this alarming truth with me. Maybe you knew this....for me, it was a hard, horrible pill to swallow. Listen, I know that we, as Nigerians, are all collectively guilty for where we are today.  But this is different.

This means that it is the fault of ONLY Christians, 'God's People' , that our healing has not yet come! It is us God wants to see turn away from sin. If we do that, genuinely, He has promised to heal Nigeria.

It's heart-breaking and heart-warming in equal proportions. Heartbreaking to know that this is all our fault but heart-warming because it confirms how powerful we really are. We can change the course of affairs in Nigeria!

If only we would do as God asks.
