Stop It! Back Up! Don't You Know I Am A Child Of God!
This post is inspired by words I 'stole' from Yvonne@Empowered Moments. I have had many mantras over time and the above is my newest and hottest!
I recommend that whenever anything, anyone, any situation tries to 'try' you, knock you down and mess with your spiritual mojo, you stare that thing, person, situation right in the eye and say:
Hey! Hey! Stop it! Back Up! Don't you know I am a child of God? You shall not be messing with me today!
It might be just me, but just saying the words out loud somehow infuses me with inner strength and peace plus it makes me feel so cool. Lol! The words above are taken from a quote by my Auntie Maya Angelou (*blinking innocently* What? Yes now, there is no law against claiming a person is there?) Here let me share the quote with you (once again 'stolen' from Yvonne's blog. Thanks Sis!):
"There's a place in you that you must keep inviolate. You must keep it pristine. Clean. So that nobody has a right to curse you or treat you badly. Nobody. No mother, father, no wife, no husband, no - nobody. You have to have a place where you say: Stop it. Back up. Don't you know I'm a child of God." ~ Dr. Maya Angelou
Absolutely love this woman! Now read her words again, listen to There is a King in You by Donald Lawrence (Thanks Mufasa for mentioning it cos I have been playing it over and over and it just revs a person up!) and tell me how you can possibly remain 'defeated'? I want you to think of that person or situation that is messing with you and say to it, loud and clear:
Stop it! Back up! Don't you know I am a child of God? You shall not be messing with moi today because there is a King living in me!
And then be on your merry, victorious way whistling " I don port o**!" as you go!
Peace out! *laughing*
** I cannot help it, this jingly song just makes me happy you cannot help but want to dance when you sing it. Lol! Perfect combination of actions - declaring, singing and dancing in faith- to just frustrate the devil and his cohorts!
