What Has God Promised You?

All the time!
I am one of those that pray with journals. I pray more effectively, I feel, when I write my prayers down. I don't do it all the time but I really thank God that I do it most of the time cos apart from it being a wonderful way to track God's awesome faithfulness, it is also the reason why I can answer the question above? Can you?

But before you answer let me explain how come keeping a prayer journal helps me remember what promises God has made me over the years. You see like I said, during my personal prayer time, I write my prayers down as I am praying them. Sometimes, I convert scripture into personalized prayers and write them down too. When I am done praying, I stop writing and then I listen. I learned this a long time ago from a lady called Lynne Hammond I believe and her book titled - Listening Prayer. When we talk to God, we have got to believe that he wants to talk back. It is a conversation. Many of us just talk, talk, talk and get up. How unfair, don't we think God has something to say too? He does and we need to carve out time after we are done to hear him out. For it's during those times, when I am listening that God not only assures me that he has heard me by placing this peace in my heart about the matter but he then goes on, sometimes to share his plans for me with me- He makes me promises. And I write them down.

So even though on Sunday my mind went blank for some bizarre reason when Pastor asked us what promises God had made us that were yet to manifest I remembered with relief that all I would have to do was get home and flip through my prayer journals. In them, I would find all my God-given promises because I had written them down. True, I remembered all the general promises that God has made me in the bible and I confess those all the time but you know there are some specific promises that God makes each of us tailor-made to our unique lives/situations/desires based on our heart cries to him in prayer.

So how about you go before him today and bring these promises up for discussion. For, even in the midst of this plague-ridden world of ours, God is set to bring his promises to pass in the lives of his children. I deeply believe this. But for it to work for you, you have got to believe it for yourself and yes, you have got to know what those promises are in the first place.

So tell me, what has God promised you? No, scratch that, don't tell me, simply go write them down so you can tick them off as God makes them true in your life in Jesus name. Amen!

    1. You are not alone o Ibifiri! I also know a few other people that pray the same way too. Anything we can do to keep our secret lives with God vibrant, we must do no matter how weird it may seem to some.
