Blog Etiquette According To The DNW
The world is busy. People are busy. You are busy. So am I. So if someone takes the time to comment on your blog. Respond and thank the person for taking the time to visit your space AND leave a comment. Especially if it makes sense and is not offensive. I did not check to see if there is any rule out there by some guru or important person to support my point of view. All I know is that there is nothing that grinds my gears more than people who do not respond or reply to your comments on their blogs! OK, I might be wrong and y'all might come at me with knives once you read this but it will not change the fact that it annoys me. So you might as well sheath your knives. Our blogs are for us to air our personal points of views (POVs) as My Neneh calls it and this here is my personal POV!
And do not get me wrong. I have left a few comments unreplied myself. And my reasons are as follows:
1. I read the comments from my yahoo box, publish from there and then forget to reply. Shame on me.
2. I read the comments but had no clue how to respond. So wisdom dictates that I just leave it alone.
3. I read the comments and just thought "No response required''. Both reason 2 and 3 are wrong to be honest cos at least you should thank the person for coming by your blog and then for taking the time to leave a comment even if you have no ready response to what they said. Especially if, like me, you have those ''we want to be sure you are not a robot'' checks! My mgm finds these particularly irritating! Lol!
True, some of you out there have 1000 people commenting on your blog so your own is different. Lol! I really have no help for you ( like Oprah or Bella Naija, you might need to hire people to reply for you) but for people like me who maybe have 2 or 10 people commenting on our blogs, people please, respond to these nice people! Haba! It is not beans for people to come to your blog o! Eh-hen! There are a zillion blogs out there so for someone to take the time to come to yours and leave a comment means you touched them somehow. They appreciate your writing. So, for the love of God, appreciate them back!
I have this really mischievous smile on my face now cos I can just imagine all the raised eyebrows out there as people read this. In answer to your question - NO! This is not really about my comments being left un-replied on your blogs (OK, maybe just a little. Lol!). But it is more about your comments on my blog being un-replied. I was just going through some of my blogs and I saw some comments I had failed to respond to and they made me feel bad and rude. True, like my Only Princess said, I might be being over-sensitive but still, I have committed to not allowing that happen any more (unless you talk nonsense in which case your comment will not even be published. Lol! Oppose me, no problem, don't agree with me, fine but talk crass and, as the Queen of Hearts would say "off with your comment!" Lovl!)
It is a free world and this is something I, the DNW believe is blog etiquette but then again, if you are a blogger, it is really up to you what you do with and on your blog o! Don't mind me o jare and as my sistafriend, Zee, would say....
Be free o!
