Blog Etiquette According To The DNW

The world is busy. People are busy. You are busy. So am I. So if someone takes the time to comment on your blog. Respond and thank the person for taking the time to visit your space AND leave a comment. Especially if it makes sense and is not offensive. I did not check to see if there is any rule out there by some guru or important person to support my point of view. All I know is that there is nothing that grinds my gears more than people who do not respond or reply to your comments on their blogs! OK, I might be wrong and y'all might come at me with knives once you read this but it will not change the fact that it annoys me. So you might as well sheath your knives. Our blogs are for us to air our personal points of views (POVs) as My Neneh calls it and this here is my personal POV!

And do not get me wrong. I have left a few comments unreplied myself. And my reasons are as follows:

1. I read the comments from my yahoo box, publish from there and then forget to reply. Shame on me.

2. I read the comments but had no clue how to respond. So wisdom dictates that I just leave it alone.

3. I read the comments and just thought "No response required''. Both reason 2 and 3 are wrong to be honest cos at least you should thank the person for coming by your blog and then for taking the time to leave a comment even if you have no ready response to what they said. Especially if, like me, you have those ''we want to be sure you are not a robot'' checks! My mgm finds these particularly irritating! Lol!

True, some of you out there have 1000 people commenting on your blog so your own is different. Lol! I really have no help for you ( like Oprah or Bella Naija, you might need to hire people to reply for you)  but for people like me who maybe have 2 or 10 people commenting on our blogs, people please, respond to these nice people! Haba! It is not beans for  people to come to your blog o! Eh-hen! There are a zillion blogs out there so for someone to take the time to come to  yours and leave a comment means you touched them somehow. They appreciate your writing. So, for the love of God, appreciate them back!

I have this really mischievous smile on my face now cos I can just imagine all the raised eyebrows out there as people read this. In answer to your question - NO! This is not really about my comments being left un-replied on your blogs (OK, maybe just a little. Lol!). But it is more about your comments on my blog being un-replied. I was just going through some of my blogs and I saw some comments I had failed to respond to and they  made me feel bad and rude. True, like my Only Princess said, I might be being over-sensitive but still, I have committed to not allowing that happen any more (unless you talk nonsense in which case your comment will not even be published. Lol! Oppose me, no problem, don't agree with me, fine  but talk crass and, as the Queen of Hearts would say "off with your comment!" Lovl!)

It is a free world and this is something I, the DNW believe is blog etiquette but then again, if you are a blogger, it is really up to you what you do with and on your blog o! Don't mind me o jare and as my sistafriend, Zee, would say....

Be free o!

I have just said my own and being as this is my blog, I believes I gats the right! Lol!

Happy Weekend!

    1. Trust me, you for sure are not. Lol! My dear I totally understand that but some bloggers are serial comment ignorers and I am like 'why am I talking to this person that keeps ignoring me'. To me, blogging is a conversation and it should be back and forth...except of course the person is talking jagajaga. lol! I might be wrong on this but I stand by it.

    1. Lol! Zee, funny cos I thought people would be mad (not that it stopped me obviously)but judging from the comments so far and especially the mails I am getting, seems we all need to dust off our blog manners. The only thing is that now that I have gone and put this out there, I better not be leaving any comments un-replied! Lol!

  4. Lol. This is a very light post, unusual of you.

I actually make sure I comment on people's blog, and reply all comments on my blog. It was easier for me back the, when I got like 5-20 comments. But no matter how much it has increased, I still reply.

When your comment section is interactive, it makes people understand that they are appreciated, and part of your 'blog life'.

    1. Yes it does. Like I said, for me, my blog is like a conversation of sorts and it should be back and forth. Well Unless you are going for a soliloquy or something.....

  5. Guilty. I am one of them bloggers who do not always respond to comments on my post but its not due to a disregard for my blog friends o. I appreciate reading their comments and when I can respond, I do.
But I must say I don't subscribe to making it seem like a duty. That would be a reason for burnout at some point I am sure.
There are bloggers I comment on their page who don't even comment on mine. It doesn't bother me cause my comments were given freely and willingly.
I believe individual bloggers have their ways of showing appreciation to their commenters even if its just the cross visits. but that's me anyway.
I do admire those who respond to comments on their blog individually and timely. I will get there once again but till then, do you.

    1. Toinlicious! Hi and thanks for coming by. Yes, we all do but personally I would prefer not to make it a habit....Life happens and the important thing is that my visitors don't feel taken for granted.

  7. I am guilty as charged! Lol. Sometimes, I reply in my head, thinking I have actually replied! Hahahaha. I need to do more with my blog than with Facebook. Thanks Sistadivine, sometimes we need to be reminded that little things count.

  8. I just want to confirm all what you said. All you can do is try to make the best for your readers and commenters. What others do on their blog is their business!
    Nice writing! :-)

    1. Yes, it's a very free world o Smiley! That I believe this is the way does not mean it has to be anybody's way....To each his/her own. But deep in all our hearts, many of us know its just makes for a nicer, more appreciative world. Love your name by the way!
